First, A Little MicroSTAR.Tv History
Truth is, this is exactly what happened in January, 2008. We began our sub-basement test marketing to the general public. A couple of "experts" were introduced to us, and in our excitement to get started, we gave them our trust and brought them on board. Like most new relationships, at first things were fine, but as the real work began they quickly showed their "something for nothing" colors. Promises and guarantees by them were broke and the trust we offered was broken by these individuals. Big Mistake and a Big Lesson Learned. We quickly addressed these "experts" and after some "quick dancing" on their part, we made the decision to end the talking and ushered them to the door, literally. They then decided not to leave, and finally the police were called and arrived. The amazing thing? Even when the police requested that the two leave, they wouldn't! Only when one officer finally reached for the hand-cuffs did the two vacate the premises, rapidly. Just very incredible! Talk about burning bridges!

Just so you know, we have been doing good business in Calgary for 30 years. We are stubborn. The dream lives!
We do things by the book, straight up, no games, morally, legally, ethically, etc.

Long story short, we made the very hard decision to close the doors, and took time to let our heads clear from this situation. We then sat and talked for a few days to evaluate the situation and to analyze what it would take to re-group, if possible. During this time, another great opportunity in renewable energy alternatives was offered to us, on a silver platter. We considered going in this totally different direction . . . for about 30 minutes, then we stopped the deliberating. We just could not bring ourselves to abandoning the dream that was layed on our hearts and at our feet.

The dream lives on. The very real dream of creating a program like MicroSTAR.Tv was and still is a very high priority. A network program for "actively supporting" all things local. This would be a global first. A one of a kind opportunity to build the bridge between community minded members and locally owened, community businesses continued to stay on our minds. We couldn't get it out of our heads. Frankly, we didn't want to leave it behind. The concept to simple yet so potentially powerfu. So, we decided to buckle down, spend more money and even more time to this very worthwhile project . . . MicroSTAR.Tv. So, here we are, ready to re-pre-launch.

You may be asking yourself, "What's the point of the story. Why air your laundry?"
The point? The point is to let you know that our commitment to the MicroSTAR project is
MASSIVE!

We paid the price, money and time wise, both professionally and personally. We dealt with the bad and the ugly and are moving forward as normally scheduled. We owe it to you, the original members who put their faith in us as human beings, as business people, as pioneers and visionaries. Your faith in us will be rewarded. Onward and upward!

A love for all things local has been the inspiration for the MicroSTAR.Tv program.

A number of life experiences has led me to this timely goal in creating a program to help build stronger, locally owned business communities.

Business experience: Began at age 11.

    1. Bartered 36 chickens for a long forgotten 1957 Chevy, in an old barn. It ran . .  barely.

    2. Collected and sold "fiddle heads" in small baskets and grocery bags by the side of the road.

    3. Chopped fireword by the cord for an elderly couple down the road. My very first check was for $11.26. Cha-ching. Also shovelled coal for the furnace into their basement.

    4. Raised: barn full of pigs via 10 breeding sows, 500 chickens, milking cows, a couple of horses.

    5. Hitch-hiked 10 miles 3 times a week to work at a grocery store, stocking shelves and packing grocery bags, etc., then hitch-hiked home.

    6. Left home at 15, continued high school and drove a van for the local newspaper delivering bundles of papers for 10 hours a day, for two days on the weekend, starting at 3 am.

    7. After high school, joined the Canadian Armed Forces, Navy, for 3 years. Saw a lot of the world and soon realized that Canada is a great country.

    8. Moved to Calgary in 1979. Since then, I have been involved with many companies in a wide variety of roles: dirtributor, direct sales, mlm companies (10+), regional director, management, consultant, administrative, advisory, product development, marketing, advertising, promotions, and the list goes on.

Industries: Health, Nutrition, RV's, Travel, Auto, Real Estate, Skin Care, Magazine, Home Care, Art, Music, Film. etc.

I love Canada. I love locally produced products and locally owned businesses.

Not to sound corny but, MicroSTAR.Tv and its "actively support locally owned" mission is a passion for me. I hope what you are doing is your passion. Life is short. Make it count.
